A little poppy brooch, made by me, using Rowan Cashsoft yarn. Here is the (very rough and ready) pattern using UK terms:

Make 2.
Ch 6. SS into 1st stitch to form a ring.
24 dc into ring.
DC into each DC, increasing every other stitch to get 36 stitches.
1 ch [1 dc 1 tr 7dbltr 1 tr 1dc 1ss] 3 times with last ss into 1st ch.
Fasten off.
Join the two pieces.

For the centre I really just made it up as I went along. It’s a bit hard to describe but I basically made lots of loops and tied them together (a bit like making a tassle) then cut off the tops and stitched into the centre of the poppy.

I also managed to find time to make another FBB. This time I used 2 skeins of Cascade Pastaza in Mauve Heather - a really beautiful yarn.

The pattern was really easy to follow and worked up very quickly.

Hello, I’m back after a long hiatus (thanks to our ISP not getting their act together!) Anyhow, what with moving house, Christmas and looking after a 7 month old baby, I haven’t had much time to crochet! Just managed a couple of projects from the Happy Hooker. Here we have my attempt at the boy beanie. I didn’t have any worsted weight yarn so just used two strands of a random black yarn from my stash held together. It seemed to work ok. Hubby seems happy with it anyhow!

The yarn is Rowan Country, an 100% wool, chunky yarn. It is a beautiful mix of reds, oranges, pinks, purples and a little green. I loved working with it. The scarf worked up incredibly quickly and slid over my bamboo hook very smoothly. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of it!

 The scarf measures approx. 180cm by 11cm wide. I made it by making 125 chains then just treble-crocheting back and forth for 7 rows. I used the leftover yarn to make the fringe. If I was making it again, I think I would make it slightly longer and narrower.

Scarf of Many Colours

I fell in love with this yarn when I saw it in the shop - the colours are beautiful. I used it to make a simple scarf which I plan to give to my sister-in-law for Christmas.
